Graduate Requirements

Upon acceptance to the certificate program, the student will meet with the advisor to design a course of study that will best complement the student's academic work.  The Graduate Certificate in LACS consists of four courses (12 hours) from at least two disciplines or departments, outside of the student's graduate or major discipline.  Course work must be completed during the current course of studies.

These courses must come from a list of approved courses for the graduate certificate.  If a student feels a course, although not on the list, reflects the spirit of the LACS Program, the student should meet with the advisor to review the course syllabus.

Students must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA while in the Certificate Program.  Course work completed with a grade below a "B-" will not be accepted for the Graduate Certificate.

Students who wish to apply transfer credits to the Graduate Certificate should submit to the advisor copies of course syllabi and written and/or research assignments, along with a transcript from the institution where the credits were earned.  Assigning credit for transfer courses will be done on an individual basis.
